<hi style=afpcap>Unquestionably one of the most graceful aircraft types ever to enter service, the Douglas C-133 Cargomaster was the result of a requirement to transport elongated cargoes such as strategic missiles on intercontinental flights. No prototypes were funded with the Air Force instead electing to proceed with 35 C-133A models for MATS Atlantic Division stationed at Dover AFB, Delaware with the 1607th Air Transport Wing (later 436th MAW). This version was followed by the C-133B fitted with clam shell doors which served exclusively with the 1501st ATW (later 60th MAW) at Travis AFB, California. The Cargomaster continued in front-line service until early 1971 when all those remaining were retired.</hi>
